Song of the Starling release date announced

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, April 29, 2026 - On Tuesday, indie publisher Lamplight Universe announced the official release date for Song of the Starling: A Magic City Wonders Novel, the fourth installment in Taylor Thomas Smythe’s award-winning science-fiction/supernatural thriller series. The novel will be available in paperback and ebook starting June 1, 2026.

The book is the fourth in the series, continuing the story that began with the award-winning series debut Goldie and continued in The Dream Team and Nightmare Array. Though it is a continuation of the series, Song of the Starling features a standalone story that jumps ahead ten years from the previous installment, bringing readers into an eerie new mystery set in 1990. 

In 2023, the Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards) named the first installment in the Magic City Wonders series, Goldie, the winner of the gold medal in the Southeast - Best Regional Fiction category. Earlier that year, Goldie received a silver medal in the Florida Book Awards. In 2021, the first installment in Smythe’s seven-book Kingdom of Florida middle-grade fantasy series—The Golden Alligator—was chosen as the winner of a silver medal in the Florida Authors and Publishers Association President's Book Awards and as a finalist in the National Indie Excellence Awards.
