Song of the Starling: A Magic City Wonders Novel announced for 2026

WEST PALM BEACH, FLORIDA, September 10, 2025 - On Wednesday, author Taylor Thomas Smythe announced the upcoming release of Song of the Starling: A Magic City Wonders Novel, the latest installment in his award-winning science-fiction/fantasy series. 

The novel is the fourth in the series, continuing the story that began with the award-winning series debut Goldie and continued in The Dream Team and Nightmare Array. Song of the Starling will be released in the early half of 2026. This semi-standalone story jumps ahead ten years from the previous installment, bringing us into an eerie new mystery set in 1990.

In 2023, the Independent Publisher Book Awards (IPPY Awards) named the first installment in the Magic City Wonders series, Goldie, the winner of the gold medal in the Southeast - Best Regional Fiction category. Earlier that year, Goldie received a silver medal in the Florida Book Awards. In 2021, the first installment in Smythe’s seven-book Kingdom of Florida middle-grade fantasy series—The Golden Alligator—was chosen as the winner of a silver medal in the Florida Authors and Publishers Association President's Book Awards and as a finalist in the National Indie Excellence Awards.
